Threatening, Failure to Pay Wages, DUI, Burglary, Larceny and Criminal Mischief through 2-18-15


The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:

FAILURE TO PAY WAGES - On Feb. 7 at approximately 12:05 a.m., Michael Carroll, 33, of Forest Way, East Haddam turned himself in to Troop K related to an outstanding warrant for the above violation. Carroll was held on a $500 bond and given a court date of 2/9/15 at Middletown Superior Court.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND MAKING A RESTRICTED TURN - On Feb. 8 at approximately 4:33 p.m., State Police received a report of a car that was stuck in a snowbank on the side of the road on Smith Road in East Haddam. Police said that the operator of the vehicle failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was taken into custody. Joseph Bogel, 66, of Bogel Road, East Haddam was arrested and charged with the above violations. Bogel was released on a $500 bond and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 2/25/15.

LARCENY - On Feb. 13 at approximately 3:35 p.m., Michael Cavanaugh, 32, of Main Street, East Hampton was arrested and charged with 5th-Degree Larceny. Cavanaugh was released on a Written Promise to Appear and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 2/24/15.

TWO-VEHICLE COLLISION - On Feb. 14 at approximately 11:17 a.m., Dominick Terrence, Jr., 20, of Windham Avenue, Colchester was traveling westbound on Lake Hayward Town Road in East Haddam, driving a 2011 Chevy Silverado pick-up truck in the area of Forest Way. Joseph Raulukaitis, 50, of Parum Road, Colchester was traveling eastbound on Lake Hayward Town Road, operating a 2002 Ford F-350 pick-up truck. Police said that the trucks collided, striking both driver's side mirrors. No injuries were reported, and no action (infraction) was taken upon either driver.

FAILURE TO GRANT THE RIGHT-OF-WAY - On Feb. 16 at approximately 1:02 p.m., Zachary Giroux, 18, of Alger Road, East Haddam was exiting a private parking lot on the East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike in the area of Launching Area Road, East Haddam, operating a 2007 Audi S6. A 17-year-old driver was operating a 2003 Buick Century, traveling westbound on the East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike. The juvenile driver's front end struck the left side of Giroux's vehicle. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene due to damages, however no injuries were reported. Police issued Giroux a written warning for Failure to Grant the Right-of-Way at a Private Road or Driveway.

THREATENING - On Feb. 16, East Hampton Police arrested Rita Marie Peatie, 66, of Wickham Road, East Haddam pursuant to an active warrant, and charged her with 2nd-Degree Threatening. Peatie was released on a $5,000 bond and given a court date of 2/24/15 at Middletown Superior Court.

BURGLARY, LARCENY AND CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - On Feb. 18 at approximately 7:16 p.m., John Sasman, 29, of Roxbury Road, Niantic was arrested, pursuant to a warrant, and charged with 3rd-Degree Burglary, 3rd-Degree Criminal Mischief and 6th-Degree Larceny. The warrant was based on an incident that occurred in East Haddam on 9/23/14. Sasman was held on a $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court on 2/18/15.

Missing Narcotics, Larceny, Motor-Vehicle Vs. Embankment, Failure to Obey a Stop Sign, Operating an Unregistered Motor-Vehicle, Making a Restricted Turn and DUI through 2-3-15


The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:


LARCENY - On Jan. 22 at approximately 3:54 p.m., Sara Suscella, 31, of Nason Road, Higganum was arrested pursuant to a warrant, and charged with 2nd-Degree Larceny and Conspiracy to Commit 2nd-Degree Larceny. Suscella was held on a $20,000 bond and scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court on 1/23/15.

FAILURE TO OBEY A STOP SIGN AND FAILURE TO DRIVE UPON THE RIGHT - On Jan. 26 at approximately 12:16 a.m., Steven Urban, 48, of Bashan Road, East Haddam was traveling westbound on Mott Lane in Moodus, operating a 2012 Ford transit van. Police said that as Urban was approaching the intersection of Eli Chapman Road, he veered left, crossed the double-yellow center line, veered right and commenced into a clockwise yaw. While the vehicle was in a spin, the van left the roadway and collided with a stop sign. No injuries were reported, but the vehicle had to be towed as a result of disabling damages sustained in the accident. Urban was issued infractions for the above violations.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND MAKING A RESTRICTED TURN - On Jan. 29 at approximately 6:33 p.m., Eugene Harding, 41, of Leesville Road, Moodus was charged with the above violations. State Police received a report of a motor-vehicle accident on Neptune Avenue in Moodus, when a vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Harding reportedly failed the Standardized Field-Sobriety Tests and was taken into custody to Troop K. He was subsequently released on a $500 bond and given a court date of 2/18/15 at Middletown Superior Court.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND OPERATING AN UNREGISTERD MOTOR-VEHICLE - On Jan. 31 at approximately 4:16 a.m., Matthew Martell, 43, of Clark Hill Road, East Haddam had reportedly driven his vehicle into a snowbank at the Westchester Shopping Plaza in Westchester, at the intersection of Routes 149 & 16.  Martell reportedly failed the Standardized Field-Sobriety Tests and was taken into custody to Troop K.  He was later released on a $500 bond and scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court on 2/10/15.

MOTOR-VEHICLE VS. EMBANKMENT - On Jan. 31 at approximately 2:41 p.m., Tyler Gerber, 27, of Falls Road, Moodus was driving a 1993 Chevy K-3500 on Moodus-Leesville Road in the area of Johnsonville Road (Routes 149 & 151) in Moodus. Police said that Gerber swerved as he was attempting to negotiate a curve, striking an embankment. No injuries were reported.

MISSING OR STOLEN MEDICATION - On Feb 3 at approximately 3:10 p.m., East Haddam Police were dispatched to investigate a complaint at the Oak Grove Senior Housing Center, located on William F. Palmer Road in Moodus. A visiting caretaker reported that narcotic medication was discovered missing from their client's pill container(s).
