Vandalism and Criminal Mischief, Burglary and Motor-Vehicle Accidents through 10-8-14


The following information was provided by the East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester:


TWO-CAR COLLISION - On Oct. 2 at approximately 7:28 a.m., Mark Mieszkowicz, 52, of Falls Circle, Colchester was traveling southbound on Sipples Hill (Route 149) in Moodus in the area of Eli Chapman Road, operating a 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer. Michael Michalski, 42, of Falls-Bashan Road, Moodus was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla in the northbound lane and crossed over the double-yellow center line, according to police, while navigating the sweeping corner of the roadway. Michalski's driver-side mirror reportedly struck Mieszkowicz's vehicle on the rear driver's side. No injuries were reported, and the accident is under investigation.

VANDALISM AND CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - On Oct. 3 at approximately 10:36 a.m., East Haddam Police were dispatched to a Gristmill Road, Moodus residence to investigate a complaint of unknown person(s) that had driven through the yard, causing damage to the lawn. The incident is currently under investigation, and anyone who may have information is asked to contact Corporal Karl Karabienikoff at the East Haddam Resident Troopers' Office at 860-873-1226. MOTOR-VEHICLE VS. UTILITY POLE - On Oct. 7 at approximately 2:22 p.m., Joseph Bartucca, 61, of Warner Road, East Haddam was traveling southbound on Warner Road, just prior to Ridgebury Road in a 2014 Chevy Cruze. Police said that Bartucca drifted off of the right side of the road, striking a utility pole and snapping it in half. No injuries were reported, but the accident remains under investigation.

BURGLARY - On Oct. 8 at approximately 4:09 p.m., State Police received a complaint from a resident of O'Connell Road Extension, near the East Haddam-Colchester town line, regarding a burglary at their home. The incident was reported to have occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 6th. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5'10" tall with a stocky-build and a full, dark-brown beard. Anyone with possible information that could help police with this investigation is asked to contact Trooper Kristin Coit at the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester at 860-537-7500.

An arrest or infraction does not indicate a conviction, and all individuals listed in these reports are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
