The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:
TRAVELING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS - On Feb. 16 at approximately 9:38 a.m., Stephen Becher, 23, of Hamburg Road, Lyme was traveling along Wickham Road in the area of Geoffrey Road in East Haddam, operating a 2006 Nissan Altima. Police said that Becher slid on a patch of ice and impacted a 2012 Kia Sedona DATTCO service van, being driven by Loretta Judkins, 48, of Geoffrey Road. No injuries were reported, but police issued Becher a verbal warning for Traveling Too Fast for Conditions.
STOLEN MAIL - On Feb. 19 at approximately 9:45 a.m., the East Haddam Police received a complaint of mail being taken from a mailbox on Norwich-Salem Road in East Haddam. The victim reported that this had happened twice over the past week. Police are asking anyone who may have any information about this incident or may have witnessed any possible similar behavior in town to contact Corporal Karl Karabienikoff at the East Haddam Resident Troopers' Office at 860-891-8201. DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND OPERATING WITHOUT A LICENSE - On Feb. 20 at approximately 9:41p.m., an East Haddam officer was out on routine patrol in the area of Hem Street and Route 82 in East Haddam. Police noticed a vehicle partially stopped on the side of the road, and pulled in behind it to check on the driver. The vehicle then reportedly lurched forward, peeling out in the sand before stopping again. Police then approached the operator, who subsequently failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. The driver, Kaylee Lamarco, 28, of Kim Court, Guilford was arrested and charged with the above violations. Lamarco was issued a $500 bond and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 3/9/16.
TRAVELING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS AND FAILURE TO DRIVE UPON THE RIGHT - On Feb. 24 at approximately 6:08 a.m., David Sweet, 44, of Windham Avenue, Colchester was traveling southbound on Tater Hill Road in East Haddam, driving a 2002 Ford Explorer. Police said that Sweet swerved off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. No injuries were reported, but Sweet was issued an infraction for the above charges.
TRESPASS AND ATTEMPTED LARCENY - On Feb. 26 at approximately 1:05 p.m., a resident of Creek Row in East Haddam reported that unknown individual(s) attempted to steal an ice machine from his property. The case is under investigation, and anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or have more information is asked to contact Corporal Karl Karabienikoff at the East Haddam Resident Troopers' Office at 860-891-8201. FAILURE TO DRIVE A REASONABLE DISTANCE APART - On Feb. 28 at approximately 10:53 a.m., Shawn Brennan, 45, of Prospect Street, Colchester was traveling southbound on Route 149 in the area of Porges Road in East Haddam, operating a 2005 Ford Econoline van. Jake Roczniak, 21, of Wickham Road, East Haddam was traveling behind Brennan's vehicle, driving a 1999 Volkswagen Passat. Police said that Roczniak struck Brennan's vehicle from behind. No injuries were reported, but Roczniak was issued a written warning for the above violation.
OPERATING AN UNREGISTERED MOTOR-VEHICLE, IMPROPER USE OF PLATES, OPERATING WITHOUT MINIMUM INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS, OPERATING WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE, RECKLESS DRIVING, ENGAGING AN OFFICER IN PURSUIT AND FAILURE TO OBEY STOP SIGNS - On March 2 at approximately 4:27 p.m., James Millett, 52, of Portland Street, Middletown was arrested and charged with the above violations. Millett was released on a $10,000 bond and given a court date of 3/23/16 at Middletown Superior Court.
TRAVELING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS, POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA AND POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - On March 5 at approximately 4:57 p.m., Kylie Melluzzo, 20, of Rebecca Lane, Moodus was traveling eastbound on Orchard Road in East Haddam, just east of Old Orchard Road, operating a 2003 Nissan X-Terra. Melluzzo reportedly told police that she swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway, rolling her vehicle over twice. Melluzzo was transported to Middlesex Hospital in Middletown by East Haddam EMS for evaluation and treatment. She was charged with the above violations and is scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 4/20/16.
FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT AND CRIMINAL VIOLATION OF A RESTRAINING ORDER - On March 9 at approximately 11:47 p.m., Douglas Wilson, 53, of Scenic View Drive, Deep River was arrested and charged with the above violations, based on two pending arrest warrants. East Haddam police had been out investigating a suspiciously parked vehicle on Triangle Drive in Moodus at the time. Wilson was held in lieu of bonds totaling $16,000 and was scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 3/10/16.
