Creating a Public Disturbance, Stolen Kayak, Violation of Probation and Conditions of Release, Disorderly Conduct, Risk of Injury to a Minor, Larceny and DUI through 7-24-13


The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:

CREATING A PUBLIC DISTURBANCE - On July 13th at approximately 10:00 p.m., East Hampton police were working on the fairgrounds at East Hampton's Old Home Days celebration. The fairground coordinator informed an officer that there was an intoxicated male, urinating on the dance floor in front of the band and several other people. Joseph Urbano, 23, of Elaine Drive, Moodus was issued an infraction for creating a public disturbance.

STOLEN KAYAK - On July 16th, East Haddam Police received a complaint about the theft of a "Perception" kayak, taken from the Oak Road, East Haddam area (Moodus Lake Shores community) located near the upper Moodus Reservoir. The kayak is described as being red in color, with yellow specks. Anyone with information that could help police with this investigation is asked to contact Officer Jeff Rhoades at the East Haddam Resident Troopers' Office at 860-873-1226, or the Connecticut State Police, Troop K at 860-537-7500.

VIOLATION OF PROBATION AND CONDITIONS OF RELEASE - On July 18th at approximately 6:00 p.m., Justin Mikan, 30, of Lake Hayward Road, Colchester was arrested and charged with the above violation. Mikan was held on a $25,000 bond and transported to Norwich Superior Court on 7/19/13.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS - On July 18th at approximately 8:30 p.m., Dennis Bergeron, 50, of Whitman Road, Moodus was arrested and charged with the above violation. Bergeron was released on a $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court on 7/30/13.

LARCENY - On July 21st at approximately 10:24 a.m., Daniel O'Mara, 23, of Berry Road, East Haddam was arrested, pursuant to a warrant, and charged with 5th-degree larceny. O'Mara was held on a $2,500 bond and given a court date of 7/22/13 at Middletown Superior Court.

FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT - On July 22nd, Timothy Bernard, 23, of Brennan Road, Amston was arrested pursuant to a warrant for the above charge. Bernard was released on a $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear at Middletown Court on 8/6/13.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On July 22nd, shortly before 2:26 p.m., East Haddam police received a 911 call from Moodus, reporting a physical altercation between two individuals. After police arrived, a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Christopher Millette, 26, of Red Mill Lane in Moodus. Millette was charged with the above violation, and a juvenile was also arrested and charged with the same, as a result of this incident. Millette was processed and released on a $500 bond and given a court date of 8/6/13.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS - On July 22nd at approximately 9:04 p.m., Christopher Winkler, 45, of Tater Hill Road, East Haddam was arrested and charged with DUI and operating a motor-vehicle with a suspended license. Winkler was released on a $2,500 bond and given a court date of 7/31/13.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT AND RISK OF INJURY TO A MINOR - On July 23rd at approximately 10:13 a.m., John Owens, 35, of North Moodus Road, Moodus was arrested and charged with the above violations, as a result of a domestic violence incident. Owens was held on a $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court on 7/24/13 at Middletown Superior Court.

LARCENY - On July 24th at approximately 7:40 a.m., Amber Cromeenes, 29, of Victoria Drive, Colchester was arrested pursuant to a warrant for 5th-degree larceny. Cromeenes was held on a $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on the same day.

Sexual Assault, Unlawful Restraint, Motor-Vehicle Vs. Bicycle, Burglary, Larceny and Disorderly Conduct through 7-15-13

The scene of a crash on Route 149 & Nichols Road in Moodus near the East Haddam Transfer Station, a dangerous intersection and notorious for many motor-vehicle accidents.

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K  in Colchester report the following incidents:

MOTOR-VEHICLE ACCIDENT - On July 1st at approximately 4:40 p.m., Susan Prueher of Joe Williams Road in Moodus was stopped on Route 149 in Moodus in the northbound travel lane waiting to turn onto Nichols Road, operating a 2003 Hyundai Elantra. Rolando Baez-Ramos of Plains Road, Windham was traveling northbound behind Prueher, driving a 1998 Nissan Sentra. Police said Baez-Ramos subsequently struck Prueher's vehicle, resulting in a rear-end collision. No injuries were reported, but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene due to heavy damage. Baez-Ramos was issued an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On July 4th at approximately 7:51 a.m., James Valli, 38, of Town Street, East Haddam was arrested and charged with the above violation, as a result of a domestic violence dispute. Valli was later released on a $500 bond and given a court date of 7/5/13 at Middletown Superior Court.

BURGLARY AND LARCENY - On July 4th, State Police received a complaint that a home on Bogel Road, East Haddam had been burglarized, and undisclosed items had been stolen. The incident is believed to have taken place sometime between Wednesday, July 3rd at 11:00 a.m. and Thursday, July 4th at approximately 8:00 p.m.

MOTOR-VEHICLE VS. BICYCLE - On July 5th at approximately 10:04 a.m., Cheryl Winakor, 57, of Palmer Martin Road, East Haddam was attempting to turn onto Norwich-Salem Road in East Haddam, in a 2003 Toyota Corolla. Winakor's vehicle collided with a bicycle being driven by David Baer, 47, of  Parker Drive, East Lyme. Baer was transported by East Haddam Ambulance to Backus Hospital in Norwich for treatment and evaluation of a back injury, scrapes and lacerations. The accident remains under investigation.

FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT - On July 5th at approximately 1:38 p.m., Donnie Valez, 23, of Bashan Road, East Haddam was arrested, based on an active warrant and charged with 1st-degree failure to appear for previous charges of possession of narcotics, possession of less than 4 oz. of marijuana and use of drug paraphernalia. He was held on a $20,000 bond and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 7/8/13.

FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT - On July 9th at approximately 12:15 p.m., Ward Gorman, 48, of Falls Road, Moodus turned himself in to Troop K, based on a warrant for his arrest for 2nd-degree failure to appear for previous charges of disorderly conduct and 3rd-degree assault, stemming from a domestic violence incident. Gorman was processed and later released on a $5,000 bond. He was given a court date of 8/23/13 at Middletown Superior Court.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS - On July 14th at approximately 10:52 a.m., East Haddam Police were dispatched to a motor-vehicle accident on Mount Parnassus Road in East Haddam. After an investigation, police determined that the operator of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol, and he was taken into custody. Rene Henri Bouchard, 71, of Barefoot Circle, Barefoot Bay, Florida was arrested and charged with DUI (2nd offense) and later released on a $500 bond. Bouchard was scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 7/24/13.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On July 14th at approximately 12:45 p.m., Anthony Thompson, 18, of Brook Hill Road, East Haddam was arrested and charged with the above violation, subsequent to a domestic violence incident with a family member. Thompson was processed and later released on a $500 bond. He was given a court date of 7/15/13 at Middletown Superior Court.

SEXUAL ASSAULT, UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On July 14th at approximately 6:54 p.m., police responded to a Sunny Heights Road, Moodus residence, for a reported domestic disturbance. After an investigation, police took Dennis Bergeron, 50, of the same address into custody. Bergeron was arrested and charged with sexual assault in a spousal or cohabiting relationship, 1st-degree unlawful restraint and disorderly conduct. He was issued a $25,000 bond and given the next available court date of 7/15/13 at Middletown Superior Court.

BURGLARY AND LARCENY - On July 15th at approximately 9:14 p.m., police received a complaint from a Falls Road, Moodus resident who reported that a Nintendo game console had been stolen from the home.

East Haddam Officer, State Troopers Honored for Outstanding Law Enforcement Achievements by MADD Connecticut


Recently, MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Connecticut honored officers and troopers from across the state, for their exceptional efforts to make our roadways safer through drunk driving enforcement, education, community involvement, training and volunteering with MADD.

The officers were nominated and presented with special awards at MADD's 27th Annual Law Enforcement Recognition Ceremony (2012 -2013) for their outstanding work.

Congratulations to the following local officers:

Burglary, Larceny, Conspiracy, Failure to Appear in Court, DUI's and Violation of Probation through 6-28-13


The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:

LARCENY AND FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT - On June 17 at approximately 8:00 a.m., Amber Cromeenes, 29, of Victoria Drive, Colchester, turned herself in to Troop K based on active warrants. Cromeenes was arrested and charged with (3) counts of 6th-degree larceny, 1st-degree failure to appear and 2nd-degree failure to appear. She was held in lieu of bonds totaling $27,000 and scheduled to appear later on the same day, at Middletown Superior Court.

VIOLATION OF PROBATION - On June 18 at approximately 5:15 p.m., Michael Biggs, 44, of Birch Road, Moodus, turned himself in to Troop K and was arrested and charged with (2) counts of violation of probation, based on an active warrants. Biggs was released on a $2,500 bond and given a court date of 7/16/13 at Middletown Superior Court.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND SPEEDING - On June 21 at approximately 10:38 p.m., Anthony Atwood, 33, of Oriole Road, East Haddam was arrested and charged with the above violations. Atwood was later released on a $500 bond and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 6/26/13.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND FAILURE TO DRIVE UPON THE RIGHTOn June 22, Emily Denicola, 19, of Algonquin Trail, Moodus was pulled over by East Hampton Police after she was observed traveling at a rate of speed well over the  posted speed limit of 45 mph. Police reported observing Denicola cross the double yellow center line twice. Denicola was subsequently arrested for the above violations and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 7/3/13.

LARCENY AND CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT LARCENY - On June 23 at approximately 12:37 p.m., Colchester Police responded to a Westchester Road, Colchester residence for a complaint of money stolen from the home. Further investigation by police resulted in the arrest of Daniel O'Mara, 23, of Berry Road, East Haddam. O'Mara was taken into custody without incident, arrested and charged with 6th-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny. He was later released on a $500 bond and given a court date of 7/11/13 at Norwich Superior Court.

BURGLARY, LARCENY, CRIMINAL MISCHIEF AND CONSPIRACY - On June 25 at approximately 6:00 a.m., Wendy Gorman, 47, of Bow Lane, Middletown was arrested, pursuant to a warrant, and charged with 3rd-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, 2nd-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny, 2nd-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit criminal mischief. Gorman was held in lieu of a $20,000 bond and presented to Middletown Superior Court on the same day to face the above charges.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND FAILURE TO DRIVE UPON THE RIGHT - On June 25 at approximately 7:24 p.m., Renee Barber, 40, of East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike, Mooudus was arrested and charged with the above violations. Barber was processed at Troop K and later released on a $500 bond and scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court on 7/16/13.

BURGLARY AND LARCENY - On June 27, a resident of Mount Parnassus Road, East Haddam reported jewelry and money missing from their home.
