Drug Needle Found in Driver's Shoe, Disorderly Conduct, Assault, Breach of Peace and Motor-Vehicle Rollover through 9-11-13


The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:

MOTOR-VEHICLE ACCIDENT - On August 30 at approximately 4:58 p.m., Paula Smith, 40, of Moodus-Leesville Road, Moodus was traveling northbound on William F. Palmer Road in Moodus, operating a 2008 Toyota RAV-4, and was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection at (Route 149) Falls Road. Donald Richards, 56, of Wilcox Hill Road, Portland approached from behind in a 2005 Subaru Impreza. Police said that as Richards attempted to make a right-hand turn onto Falls Road, he struck Smith during the passing maneuver. There were no injuries reported to either drivers or their passengers and both vehicles were able to be driven from the accident scene. Police issued Richards an infraction for passing on the right.

POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - On Sept. 1 at approximately 1:51 a.m., police received a report of a motor-vehicle operating erratically on Route 149 in Moodus. Police observed the vehicle traveling 55 in a posted 40 mile-per-hour zone, and initiated a motor-vehicle stop. During the subsequent investigation, the officer discovered that the driver, Taylor Bauer, 21, of Eli Chapman Road, Moodus had a hypodermic needle in his right shoe. Bauer was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, taken into custody and processed at Troop K. He was later released on a $500 bond and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 9/18/13.

ASSAULT AND BREACH OF PEACE - On Sept. 2 at approximately 7:15 p.m., Michael Kenneth King, 35, of Ironworks Road, Clinton turned himself in to Troop K, pursuant to a warrant, and was arrested and charged with 3rd-degree assault and breach of peace. The warrant stemmed from an incident that took place in April of 2013. King was released on a $1,000 bond and given a court date of 9/24/13 at Middletown Superior Court.

MOTOR-VEHICLE ACCIDENT - On Sept. 4 at approximately 1:22 p.m., Margaret Gaudio, 78, address unavailable, of East Haddam (operating a 1999 Mercedes-Benz C230) and Victor Videll, 69, of Moodus Road, East Hampton (operating a 2013 Toyota Corolla) were both traveling eastbound on Route 82, just prior to the intersection of Route 149. As Gaudio slowed her vehicle for pedestrians in a crosswalk, police said she was struck from behind by Videll's vehicle. Videll and his passenger, Linda Videll, 64, also of Moodus Road were both transported to the Middlesex Clinic in Marlborough by East Haddam Ambulance with complaints of neck and back pain. The accident remains under investigation.

MOTOR-VEHICLE ROLLOVER - On Sept. 9 at approximately 4:32 p.m., Donna Gohn, 65, address unavailable, of Hadlyme, was traveling northbound on Ray Hill Road in East Haddam in a 2006 Saab 93, just south of Palmer Martin Road. Gohn's vehicle traveled off the right-hand side of the roadway and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to roll over onto it's roof. Gohn sustained minor injuries and was transported to Middlesex Hospital for treatment and evaluation.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On Sept. 11 at approximately 4:45 p.m, Benjamin Gonzalez, 33, address unavailable, of Norwich was arrested and charged with the above violation. Gonzalez was later released on a $500 bond and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 9/12/13.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On Sept. 11 at approximately 6:40 p.m., Ami Kuster, 33, of East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike, East Haddam was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Kuster was later released on a $500 bond and given a court date of 9/12/13 at Middletown Superior Court.

An arrest or infraction does not indicate a conviction, and all individuals listed in these reports are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
