DUI, Motor-Vehicle Rollover, Violation of a Restraining Order, Vandalism and Criminal Mischief through 12-31-15


The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:

FATAL MOTOR-VEHICLE ACCIDENT - On Dec. 13 at approximately 3:38 p.m., Eric Wilson, 42, of North Moodus Road, Moodus was traveling westbound on North Moodus Road in the area of Stockburger Road, operating a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. Police said that Wilson lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole, causing the SUV to overturn. Wilson was flown to Hartford Hospital via Life Star helicopter for treatment, but later died from his injuries. A 14-year-old passenger was transported by East Haddam Ambulance to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford for a minor injury.

VIOLATION OF A RESTRAINING ORDER - On Dec. 13 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Alan Kromish, Jr., 49, of Falls Road, Moodus was arrested by East Hampton Police and charged with the above violation. Kromish was released on a $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 12/14/15.

TIRE IN ROADWAY - On Dec. 21 at approximately 5:19 p.m., Kory Bracken, 19, of Terp Road, East Hampton was traveling northbound on Town Street in Moodus just south of School Street, driving a 2005 Saab 9-3. Police said Bracken struck a tire that was lying in the roadway. No injuries were reported.

VANDALISM & CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - On Dec. 22 at approximately 1:19 p.m., East Haddam police received a complaint from the manager of the Main Street Burial Ground, located at 346 Town Street in East Haddam. Damage was caused to several headstones. Police are investigating.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On Dec. 23 at approximately 9:41 p.m., state police were dispatched to a Ridgewood Road Extension, East Haddam address for the report of a physical domestic disturbance. After a subsequent investigation, police arrested Michael Radwanski, 37, of Ridgewood Road Extension and charged him with Disorderly Conduct. He was released on a Written Promise to Appear and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 12/24/15. Police said that Carolynn Sartelle, 32, of the same address was also charged with Disorderly Conduct. She was held on a $500 bond and also scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 12/24/15.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS - On Dec. 23 at approximately 11:44 p.m., East Haddam Police observed a vehicle operating in a suspicious manner in the area of Route 151 (Plains Road) just south of Route 149 (Falls Road) in Moodus. After a  subsequent investigation, police arrested Brian Sanchez, 53, of Boardman Road, East Haddam and charged him with DUI. Sanchez was later released on a $500 bond and given a court date of 1/13/16 at Middletown Superior Court.

MOTOR-VEHICLE ROLLOVER - On Dec. 25 at approximately 2:53 p.m., Delores Libby, 78, of Bashan Road, East Haddam was traveling along Smith Road in East Haddam, in the area of Alger Road. Police said that Libby failed to negotiate a turn, left the roadway and struck a large rock, causing her vehicle to roll over onto its roof. Libby was transported to Middlesex Hospital by East Haddam Ambulance for evaluation and treatment of her injuries. She was issued a verbal warning for Traveling Unreasonably Fast.

FAILURE TO DRIVE A REASONABLE DISTANCE APART - On Dec. 31 at approximately 2:51 p.m., Billie Kowalewski, 40, of North Moodus Road, Moodus was traveling northbound on Route 149 (Falls Road) in the area of Route 151 (Plains Road) in Moodus, operating a 2011 Kia Soul. Bruce Lynn, 47, of Red Mill Lane, Moodus was traveling behind Kowaleski, driving a 2004 Ford Escape. Police said that when Kowalewski slowed down to make a turn, Lynn struck Kowalewski's vehicle from behind and then evaded the scene. Lynn was later located by police at his residence and charged with Failure to Drive a Reasonable Distance Apart, Evading Responsibility, Misuse of Plates, Failure to Maintain Insurance and Operating an Unregistered Motor-Vehicle.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND FAILURE TO DRIVE UPON THE RIGHT - On Dec. 31 at approximately 9:08 p.m., Luis Bautista, 49, of Robbie Road, Moodus was observed by police, crossing over the yellow line in the roadway as he was traveling eastbound on the East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike. He was subsequently stopped by police who determined that he was operating under the influence. Bautista was arrested and charged with the above violations. Bautista was issued a $500 bond and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 1/13/16.
